October, 2010 A fabric collection is an end in itself: a feast for the quilter's eye and a garden of possibilities. When I shop for fabric, I don't like to buy all the fabrics for my quilt at one time or from a single fabric line. I prefer to collect kinds of prints and color groups. My stash is wide and deep. The Companions line is intended to help the fabric collector round out certain parts of the fabric pallette. As the Staples backgrounds fill a need, so will the Companions prints. They are like Staples (finely etched in two colors) only with a dark ground. The light prints in the group are intentionally tiny, designed for quilters who love to make miniatures.
